The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts several exams for recruitment in various government departments and ministries in India. Following are the details of some of the popular SSC exams:

  • SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL): SSC CGL is a graduate-level exam conducted to recruit candidates for Group B and Group C posts in various government departments and organizations. The exam is conducted in four tiers: Tier-I (preliminary), Tier-II (mains), Tier-III (descriptive), and Tier-IV (skill test/computer proficiency test/document verification). The exam covers subjects like General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.

  • SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL): SSC CHSL is a 12th-grade level exam conducted to recruit candidates for Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO), Postal/Sorting Assistant, and Court Clerk positions. The exam is conducted in three stages: Tier-I (computer-based exam), Tier-II (descriptive paper), and Tier-III (skill test/typing test). The exam includes sections like General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.

  • SSC General Duty (GD) Constable: SSC GD Constable exam is conducted to recruit candidates for the positions of constables (General Duty) in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), NIA, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. The selection process includes a computer-based exam, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST) and a medical examination.

  • SSC Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): SSC MTS exam is conducted to recruit candidates for non-technical Group C posts in various government departments and ministries. The exam consists of two papers: Paper-I (objective) and Paper II (descriptive). The exam covers subjects like General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English, and General Awareness.

SSC CGL Syllabus - Tier 3

Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its 14 application to society.
